Let’s Talk About Green Stuff!
I know you’re just holding it for a friend with glaucoma, but there comes a time in every gamers life when the have to get the talk about Green Stuff. So what is Green Stuff? Well okay, the name Green Stuff is property of the Games Workshop copyright (tiny font) legion of doom (normal font) and technically the stuff is called Kneadatite. It’s a two-part (the blue and the yellow) room temperature curing epoxy. It’s made so that it can be stored without hardening, unless you’re careless like my fiance who nearly ruined an Orboros army by just haphazardly throwing the stuff in her gaming bag. Green Stuff, once hardenned, can be painted on, filed, etc! The stuff’s magical. I’m going to be putting out a few articles involving tips and tricks with Green Stuff, so keep an eye out for that.
Green Stuff takes about 90 minutes to fully dry. I’ve seen people hold it under a lightbulb to heat it up, which makes it dry quite a bit faster, but apparently that can make it run. Your milage may vary. You can keep it in the freezer for a couple hours to slow down the drying time if necessary.
I hate to down sell Green Stuff, but in the interest of fairness, there are a few other alternates. I just recently read about something called Milliput, which one of the people at our LGS (local game store) uses with some degree of success. (http://www.milliput.com/). You can also buy it in bulk from other companies, such as (http://www.amazon.com/Kneadatite-Two-part-Epoxy-Compound-Kit/dp/B00839MUH6).
So keep an eye out for those articles coming up in a couple weeks, where I’ll be showing you how to make various things with Green Stuff (ropes, robes, banners, stuff for basing).
